Tips to Keep You Looking & Feeling Your Best
Everybody loves to be pampered, but right now not everyone can get to their favorite salon or spa. Luckily there are a few simple things you can do at home to pamper yourself. To help you out, I’ve put together a list of just a few of my favorite pro tips that I like to leave my clients with at the end of each appointment.
Beauty Hack #1: Take A Cold Shower
Try lowering the water temperature in your shower from anywhere between 30 seconds and 2 minutes at the end of your routine. A cool rinse has many benefits which include:
Sealing the hair cuticles for improved shine
Stronger immune system
Promoting emotional resilience
Draining the lymphatic system
Promoting faster muscle recovery
Beauty Hack #2: Got Frizz? Don’t Shampoo As Often.
Most shampoos contain harsh detergents that strip the scalp and hair of essential oils that aid in the overall health and structure of your curls (even sulfate free ones). Rule of thumb: if it lathers, it contains detergent. Instead, shampoo your hair once a week for two weeks and use only a conditioner whenever you wet your hair in the shower. After that, try to only use shampoo twice a week at most. The result: more definition and less frizz in your curls.
Beauty Hack #3: Easy Brow Shaping
Use a white eye pencil (like NYX Cosmetic Slide On Eye Pencil in Pure White) to create a guide by outlining your desired brow shape. Then tweeze or use an at home wax strip (Sally Hansen, Nair, etc.) to remove the hair outside of that line.
Beauty Hack #4: Extend Your Blowout
Try using an antiperspirant (I recommend: Madame Lemy’s All Natural Deodorant) on the back of your neck to extend the life of your blowout. This is an easy way to avoid the little curls that form in that area once your hair gets wet from perspiration. I love this tip for people with active lifestyles.
Beauty Hack #5: Use A Silk Pillowcase
Sleeping on a silk pillowcase not only keeps your hair tangle free and prevents breakage, but also helps to prevent and reduce wrinkles! The best part is you don’t have to break the bank to indulge in this luxurious sleep experience. The Dry Bar offers one for about $45.
